Marion County Medical Reserve Corps

The mission of the Marion County Medical Reserve Corps is to coordinate and maintain a well-trained group of medical and non-medical volunteers to make our community safer, stronger and better prepared to respond to public health emergencies and events.

What We Do

MRC volunteers help make our community safer, stronger and better prepared. Through training, exercises, drills, team-building activities and emergency preparedness courses, we improve the lives of our fellow citizens.

Why Volunteer?

Immediately following the attacks in New York City on September 11, 2001, thousands arrived at ground zero to help. In most cases, there was no way to distinguish qualified from unqualified volunteers. Because there was no system in place to coordinate these volunteers, response effectiveness was greatly reduced. Advanced registration of medical and non-medical volunteers will provide Marion County immediate access to volunteers who may be needed in the event of an emergency in Marion County, increasing the effectiveness of volunteers and overall emergency management efforts.
